Makbool Javaid is a solicitor specialising in employment and human rights cases. He is a partner at the London West End firm, Simons Muirhead and Burton. He was at the global law firm, DLA Piper for 10 years where he was a partner and the Head of Equality and Diversity Group until January 2007. Makbool was also the former Head of Litigation Services at the Commission for Racial Equality for six years prior to joining DLA Piper.
Makbool is a public speaker and trainer on employment and human rights issues. He has been widely published and regularly contributes to legal and HR journals.
Makbool has acted in many landmark cases, including discrimination claims involving highest ever damages awarded (at the time).
Makbool is a member of the CBI Equality Forum, Law Society Employment Committee, the Chair of Muslim Lawyers Committee and a former adviser to the Government on race relations issues.
