Gifty Edila is the Director of Law and Administration at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. She is a non-practising Barrister, a practising Solicitor and an accredited mediator. She has been practising law for over 27 years and has been in local government since 1988.
 
Gifty manages  a budget of over £5m and 75 staff in the Law and Administration Department which comprises  Legal Services Division, Governance Services Division and the Civic Office and Mayoralty Division.

She was named one of the top 5 Lawyers in Local Government by the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) in 2005 and was named by the Lawyer magazine as one of the top 100 Lawyers in the country in 2006. Gifty was the President of the Association of Council Secretaries and Solicitors (ACSeS) between 2004 and 2005. She also won the Excel Ghana Professional award for the Lawyer of the Year 2002.

Gifty has led award winning teams and her current team won the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) 2004 Legal Department of the Year award.  
 
Gifty has written a number of articles on legal issues and often speaks at conferences.
